Hey there.... we adopted your puppies Buddy and CC (which we named Bella and Baylin)... Here they are now at our cottage in the Adirondacks!   Baylin (AKA CC - the crazy boy - LOVES to swim) and Bella (AKA Buddy, is the princess - she romps in the water, and swims some, but not as heartily).

They are doing very, very well.   The love of the family.  They run around the house and the yard all day long and curl up with anyone who will have them.  They are doing pretty well with their training.  I should probably be more diligent, but they are being good.   They know sit, lie down, and are working on stay and are house broken.  They do not like the leash, but tolerate it when required.   They are inseperable.  They are definitely fat & happy.
Cassie (aka Kara) is doing very well in her new forever home. She has settled in well with her older sister Lindsey.  As you can see from her pictures both of the girls are living the high life. Cassie has become excellant at "helping in the yard" We are thinking of putting in a miniture golf course in to utilize all the holes she has dug! ;-)
Cassie attends Wooftown Doggy Day Care (these BEST day care in town) every week and loves playing with her friends!  We are currently working on becoming a therapy dog so she can work with me and my clients.  I am so glad we found Cassie - she brings much laughter and joy into our lives.
Thank you HOPE for saving my Cassie!
-Kate
PS If you need any holes dug I have an expert!! ;-).
Success Stories
For those that remember our girl Gracie who came from Kentucky in December with her seven babies, attached is a picture from her obedience school graduation last night where she graduated number ONE in her class :)  She's come a long way from that scraggly, skinny, dirty mama that was going to be euthanized with her babies.  She's living the good life thanks to HOPE!
I hope you don't mind getting just one more note about Brink! I had to tell you what an absolutely wonderful dog he has become. He had a problem of taking off on us and my daughter said that when his loyalty to us became larger than his need to take off, he would change but who knew it would happen overnight! He's absolutely perfect! He stays around with each of us and hunts and wanders in the mud and fields. The first time I took him out into a field I was working with a tractor, you would have thought he'd been living on a farm for 20 years - he knew just what to do! He runs and hunts and plays and comes in at night completely exhausted. I couldn't resist those pleading eyes of his so yes, he sleeps with me now and we both enjoy snuggling. He is the perfect dog for us and we both love the little dear! Thanks for being a part of bringing us together, Lisa
I adopted Maddie on January 6, 2009. She was 6 months old, and had been in foster care for most of her life. The last month of foster care for her was spent at a great home in Hilton with a wonderful family, 3 dogs and a cat. She was very lucky. In the seven months that she's been with me, she's done lots of socialization—visits to friends and family with other dogs, trips to the dog park, etc. Maddie loves being around other dogs and has boundless energy for play. We even went to obedience classes at Lollipop Farm. I failed miserably, but Maddie passed with flying colors! She's a very smart pup.
Because we live in a condo, we go for 4 or 5 walks every day, one of which is about an hour long each night. This is her favorite thing to do besides going to the dog park. And she gets plenty of rawhides and bones to chew on in her spare time.
The folks at HOPE were excellent to work with and I'm forever grateful to them for bringing Maddie into my life.
Hi Guys:

Just thought I would throw out a success story for you....My Champ!
When he came into HOPE, he was such a scared little man.  Who knows the horrors that he had to deal with.  His teeth were a mess, looking like he chewed on a lot of rocks.  One of his ribs was broken at some point in his life, possibly by being kicked by someone. Champ was also very shy of people.  He would coward away from anyone who was just attempting to pet him.  Just thinking of how pitiful and scared he looked when he arrived still brings tears to my eyes.
He is now the LOVE of my life and such a good boy! (Yes, I am crying again!)  He is devoted to me and my family and would never let anyone hurt us.  I could not have hand picked a better fur kid!
The photo of him in our kitchen was from the first day he came to us.  You can see the sadness in his eyes, he broke my heart.
The photo of him out in the snow says it all.  He has a huge smile on his handsome face and love in his eyes.

These two dogs were from a pregnant dog due to be euthanized. HOPE pulled mom and her pup's were born into HOPE!!
We adopted "Cookie" (since renamed Dakota) in January of 2009.  We had just lost our dog, Brandie, of 12 years in December.  I wasn't sure I was ready for another dog but one Saturday night as I was surfing the internet, I found your website and the most adorable dog ever.  She was in a shelter in Ohio and was due to be euthanized .  Apparently the kennel that the shelter had her in was at the end of the row, next to the dumpster, so I'm sure no one would even go down the row far enough to see her because of the smell. Well, I printed the page out to show my husband in the morning.  At first he said he wasn't ready for another dog, but after looking at her picture, he came around.  We made arrangements to go and see Dakota on that Monday.  She was very excitable and crazy when we walked in.  She jumped all over us and couldn't stop giving us kisses.  I fell in love with her at that very minute.  If you guys had let me, I would have taken her home that night.  Well, since then, she has calmed down some, but not a lot, she is full of energy all the time.  We have a cottage by Fair Haven and she loves it there.  I am attaching a picture for you to see of her playing in the water, which she LOVES. I am so thankful for this addition to our family.  She is so loveable, I can't believe that someone would actually let her go.  Thanks again.
Cookie was one of the very first dogs that HOPE saved from death. She was just hours away from being euthanized after sitting in that cold, dirty pound for over a month! Congratulations Dakota on your new wonderful family!
Mona is doing beautifully.  She just completed an 8-week obedience class and is moving on to an agility/rally class.  It consists of obstacle courses and an array of commands that they haave to perform.  She is still full of boundless energy!  We are working on self-control, which means "no jumping" and "walk" (without walking ahead of me). She has mastered so many other commands, though: sit, stay, drop, leave it, down.  Mona also rings a bell on the door when she wants to go outside.  She loves to play tug-of-war, frolic in the kiddie pool, and fetch.  I have recently started taking her to a doggie day care to have her socialize more with other dogs.  Mona LOVES it!  The caregivers say she just runs and plays with the other dogs the whole time.  Our favorite time though, is in the evening.  She has a special spot on the couch between me and my husband.  She is so gentle and loving, and is always generous with her "kisses!"

We love Mona more and more every day.  Thank you again and again, Sue, Lisa (our favorite adoptive mom), and all of you who are doing such generous life-saving acts of love.

I'm sorry I haven't sent you pictures sooner but as you will see I have been very busy at my new home.  I have two brothers to play with and I love my family.  We spend a lot of time watching all the animals in the yard.  I'm growing very fast and sometimes I forget how big I really am.  I did get into a little trouble when I decided to play in the mud.  OOPS (It was a lot of fun though)  until I ran all through the house.  There was a lot of mud everwhere.  Today I went to the lake and learned how to swim.  I really love the water.  I hope you like the pictures.  Write back soon.  Tommy

HI... This is Lexi,  one of Gracies babies. She was a present for my daughters 11th brithday.  It has been so fun watching her grow and her personality develop.  My daughter has taught her how to sit, shake and lay down.  She can even give you a high five.  She loves to snuggle and go for walks and to the park.  She even has some doggy friends she gets together with in our neighborhood to play with.  She loves everyone that comes through the door and shows them with a little
puddle she leaves behind.  Lexi has two brother cats she likes to play with but they let her know when they are not in the mood to play.  We just love her to death and would love to get together with her mom and all the puppies......thanks to HOPE for all you did to rescue these beautiful dogs.  Lexi and her family

We lost our beloved 12 yr old Golden Retriever, Merlin, this past December '08.  We swore that we would not get another dog - too much heartache at the end.  Besides, my husband and I had one more daughter that was a year away from going to college and then we were going to pack up and travel during the Rochester winter months somewhere where it was warm and didn't want a dog to tie us down.  In February 09 we started feeling the emptyness of not having a dog around and cautiously started cruising the internet to see what animals were available for adoption.  We were just going to look...that's all!!  We saw the H.O.P.E. website and looked at the pictures of the dogs available.  I saw a dog named Sandy who was part golden retriever and was interested right away. I spoke with the foster mom who asked if I could come to look at Sandy the following Sunday as many dogs would be coming up from Kentucky that day to her home to be picked up by their foster families.  As we were standing in the garage that Sunday watching the dogs meet up with their foster families, my daughter was drawn to a medium sized brown dog that was standing there very patiently and quietly while the other dogs were excited and ready to go.  That's the dog she wanted to take home with us!  I wasn't so sure about that.  He was cute enough but I had my heart set on the dog Sandy that I was there to see.  After meeting Sandy, who was very sweet but extremely shy, we decided she would not be the one for our household and left. After about a week and checking several animal adoption agencies, that little brown dog was still high on my daughter's list.  She talked me into calling the foster mom and giving this little brown dog named Bruce a closer look.  We visited the foster home and decided we would adopt Bruce if we were found to be a good home for him.  We found out that Bruce lived in Kentucky and ended up in their animal shelter after his family had moved out of their home in the winter and left him tied to a tree in their backyard!!  We adopted him renamed him Jackson.  That quiet little dog we met in the garage that day has turned out to be a loving, sweet, full of energy, 2 yr old dog that we love dearly.  I will be taking him to obedience lessons so he can learn to walk a little better on the leash but he knows how to sit, stay, lay down and come when called.  He is a joy to have in our family and I would like to thank Elizabeth (foster mom) and Sheryl Little for all their help and work they do for these beautiful animals.  H.O.P.E. is a wonderful organization who helps all these homeless animals find their forever loving home...

Dear H.O.P.E.,

Thank you for saving me and my 7 beautiful babies last Christmas. I was such a young mother trying to protect my newborns out in the streets in Kentucky, scared and alone. You not only gave us an opportunity to live, but you brought us to NY and introduced us to how life should be! There is this white stuff that falls from the sky here in NY...it is amazing! I love to prance around and catch snowflakes. This summer, I spent a lot of time hiking in local parks and I love meeting new people everywhere I go. I try to "talk" to them, but they just laugh at my silly noises and tell me I'm adorable.
I am so happy in my new home, living the life as a princess! I love to visit my foster mama, Lisa, and her family. They took such good care of me while I was nursing my pups. I also love hearing updates on how happy my little pups are doing as they grow (have you seen the pics? - they are bigger than me!!). I am such a proud mama.
I will never forget every single person who made such a significant impact in my family's success story. We've come a long way, and because of all of you, our lives and our new families' lives are filled with such love.
I "woof" you all!
Gracie <3
My name is Huxley (nee:  Barney) and have been with my new forever family for six months!!  My new home is in Canada and is great!  I have two young boys that play and cuddle me all the time.  The family always gives me hugs, kisses and lots of love, and tells me how happy they are I came along.  The kids love to snuggle with me, and Mom and Dad finally broke down and let me on the couch to cuddle with everyone.
My Mom says that I am a very good dog and am quite smart.  The dog training at the Wolfman went well and I am a very good listener (except for when I see other dogs!!).  In September, I will be going back to finish up my last session!!
We have been going on family vacations and to visit lots of people and other canine friends!!  The cottage trip was extra special because I discovered that I love the water.  I spent all day in the swamp chasing dragonflies, frogs and fish.  I think that I was a little stinky after a week or so but they still let me into the cottage! I just want to say THANKS!! to H.O.P.E. for finding me a great home and making my family complete!

After our fifteen year old dog died we were looking for another dog
and saw Gideon online.  He looked like a perfect fit.  We first met
Gideon at the Leroy Park N Ride, boy did he smell!!  He went home with
his foster parents Bonnie and Ed; they did a great job cleaning him up
and grooming him as you can see from the  picture. We adopted  Gideon
on July 4th. He loves walks, playing with his toys, walking into the
lake, lots of attention, car/boat rides, going to the cottage and
climbing in the window to see what's  happening. He is a very well
trained and loving dog, he doesn't even try to run away. We're glad he
found a forever home with us.

Hi, my name is Phoenix (formerly known as Tucker)!   I was found in a
pound in Kentucky and was very sick until I was rescued by Hope of NY
and nursed back to health!  I found my forever home in March 2009 and
couldn't be happier!  I am very spoiled and get to sleep with my mom
and dad on their bed and take fun car rides!  I recently found out I
am a Comfort Retriever (cocker spaniel/golden retriever mix) and I
love to plant my nose on the ground and sniff away!  I am a very
social dog and love to play with my friends and occasionally sneak up
on a cat in my back yard!   I am also VERY happy to have a sister now.
Her name is Tucson and she is a little kitten who I love to cuddle
with and lick her ears and head until completely drenched! :)    Thank
you to Hope of NY for making my dream come true!  Wait until you see
what I am going to be for Halloween!!!

Hello I am Paddy (since renamed Tylo) and I am Timmy, we're from Kentucky.  Our mommy's name is Gracie and we have 5 other siblings.  HOPE, thank you very much for helping us find these beautiful boys. These boys are so happy and so playful that there is never a dull moment in our house.  We have a 6 year old daughter who just
adores them, as they adore her, she thinks she's their mommy.  Tylo and Timmy are inseparable and love to chase each other around the house and the backyard.  They play with their doggy friend Kimba every day, she lives behind us. They have seen their mommy Gracie twice since leaving their foster home and visit with their foster mom Lisa and family every so often. We want to thank Lisa K. for all she has done and all she is still continuing to do for Tylo and Timmy. Thank you

Hey
Sorry it's been a while since I've updated you, things have been
really busy and senior year is really keeping me on my toes. Roderick
has been doing well -- although, about a week or so after we brought
him home he developed an ear infection that was treated for 2 or 3
weeks before it went away. The vets also said recently they hear a
light heart murmur that we should monitor over time. I'm not sure if
you guys were aware of that at all? Otherwise, he's been very happy
and good here. He recently came to NJ with us to visit my family and
my other dog there, a chihuahua, and he loved playing with him. I
attached some pics of those. He has also been to the dog park near us
a few times and enjoys running around with all the other dogs. We also
celebrated his 3rd birthday last month and got him a birthday hat and
a dog canoli at a dog bakery near us. Hope all is well with you guys!
As the weather starts getting colder here, I think Roderick is
enjoying it more than we are!  -Darryl

Here are some pictures of Keenan. We adopted him this past April from
HOPE of NY. He is doing great and loves his new play pal!
He is a great addition to our family and we just love him so much!
Please share this with the foster family that cared for him.

Our Bella Story

Saturday, August 1st was our first meeting with Bella. My husband loved her from the start. She was just what we needed to fill the void that our beautiful TeddiBear left when she passed away at age 13. One surprise issue with Bella..we did not know she was a PUPPY! We had thought she was about 1 1/2 yrs..but turns out she is closer to the 1 year mark. Man..does she have energy we haven't seen in years! Our other 2 dogs are both 9 yrs old and are trying very hard to get used to Bella's energy. But we all love her and are very glad we found each other. Vince did a great job of fostering her so we really didn't have many issues from the start. The first few days were a challenge, but she started to learn right from wrong pretty quickly, took to the invisible fence right away,  and will also be going to obedience classes very soon. I have gotten her to 'sit' when I pour her food and she can't eat until I tell her it is ok! I was amazed how fast she learned that....now if I could only get her to give me her paw to 'shake'!  Somehow that seems to elude her! Thank you Hope of NY for saving Bella so she could be with us!

Hi.  I just wanted to send some pictures of Mugsy who my husband and I adopted at the end of August. We’ve actually renamed him Lincoln and he’s doing great.  He’s getting along great with our other dog Asha (they play together quite a bit) and he seems to be comfortable with everything about his new home.    We haven’t had to crate him….  He gets free reign of the house and the worst he has done is chew a blanket.  I can’t complain.   He’s got quite a big personality now that he is comfortable with us too.
Thanks for the great dog!
Jamie

Hello HOPE,
I'm sorry it has taken me so long to write! The upcoming birthday party for Gracie and the babies has served as a good reminder. I just looked on your web site at all the other success stories and knew that Zach's story needed to be there as well. Zach (formerly known as Joey) is a wonderful dog and my best friend! He does EVERYTHING with me and he is definitely the center of my world. The rest of the family loves him too! Since I work at home, we are hardly ever separated, but when we are, he makes sure that I know it! He has grown into quite a long legged guy and I often wonder what he's made of, besides tons of energy and love. I call him my "social butterfly" because he loves all dogs, cats, horses, people, etc., and would play with all of them if allowed. He has been to obedience school and excelled at that, along with lots of training at home. He is obsessed with tennis balls and is always putting one at someone's feet as if to say "here it is, now throw it!". He LOVES to swim and spent a good portion of his summer in the lake or pond. And when I go to the barn, he is always there, playing with the other dogs, swimming, helping me bring in the horses, waiting for me while I ride, and the most fun of all, goes on trail rides with me. He loves to run around the big field and when I let my horse run, he has to race ahead and beat us! Thank you to everyone at HOPE for bringing him into my life!

Hello HOPE,

I've attached some photos of Lila (Sierra in July) whom I adopted from you.  She is a doll!  She drove to Maine with me and a litter of 2 week old foster kittens that I was bottle feeding last month.  We stayed with my Mom who lives on the ocean and checked out my property where we'll be building and moving to in ~2 years.  (Also on the water.)  Lila loves to swim in anything that isn't chlorinated and has decided that canoe trips are fun.  She's been to several fund raisers and I have people stop in their cars just to tell me how beautiful she is.  She has the prettiest blue eyes and softest shiniest cream fur and every time I'd come out of the gas stations I'd find people standing at my car windows admiring her.  I am such a proud mother.
She was the featured (and only) dog in an article of a women's' magazine that was published last month here in Cleveland.  I'm getting ready to bottle my batch of make-it-yourself wine (A Lodi Ranch 11 Cab sav) and my label is a picture of Lila and the title Lila's Lodi Ranch.  Such fun!
She is such a sweetie pie. Very energetic and in that troublesome terrible twos stage.  Her best friend is my APBT, Sirius, who absolutely adores her and is always by her side and sleeping with her.
She has grown from 15# in July to a slender lanky 47# three months later.
Thanks for approving my application!  And thanks for accepting the lucky dogs this weekend!
Amy

Just HAD to send you a couple of pictures of Brink in his Farm Mode!!!  Carl
has him ride on the combine when there are distractions across the road or
when Brink has run himself to exhaustion.  He just LOVES to run and hunt!
It may sound a bit gross but he's become an excellant rat hunter, which is a
very good thing for us.  We went to Baltimore over Thanksgiving to visit our
daughter and her husband and Brink handled the kennel like a pro.  He wasn't
weirded out by the other dogs, just very curious about them.  He settled
right in but was delighted to come home.  He's so mellow and you can just
tell that he loves it here.  When I get home in the afternoon he hangs out
and gets pet and scratched for a bit but then just HAS to go out to check
out the premises for intruders.  He does laps around the house and quite
often I find him sitting on the 6" wide railing on the deck surveying his
domain. He looks like a bird perched out there.

I hope your Thanksgiving was a wonderful one.  Again, I want to thank you,
Lisa, for making it possible for us to connect with Brink.  What a lucky day
it was for us when we met him and brought him home!
I just thought you'd like an update on Maria.  She is very happy here
at her new home and loves the attention and care everyone who lives
here and visits give her. We walk her at least twice a day and she is
always waiting by the door when we arrive back home.  Since you last
saw her she has grown quite a bit but still has that puppy instinct in
her. She LOVES to play and run all around and also enjoys just
lounging around. She has also adapted well to sleeping in the bed and
if you're not careful she may steal your pillow! We love having her
and she has made great addition to the family.  Thanks again for
allowing us the opportunity to adopt such a wonderful dog.

My family and I adopted Nicholas the beginning of Feb. He was a dog
that didn't like cats, but he is making great strides with the  cats
here on the farm. I just tell him "no" and he knows to leave them
alone. When he came to our home we thought that he would need surgery
for his rear right knee, but when we took him to our vet and found out
that there was no need. He now runs around with our other dog, and if
they are playing don't get in the way or you'll get hurt. He brings us
many hours of enjoyment, and lots of warmth from his need to cuddle.

I just wanted to let you guys know how much I love my new puppies, and
that they are doing exceptionally!   This photo is about a month old,
and they are now much larger.  Lucy Lou, the black one, is 27 pounds,
very tall and intelligent, while her sister Katie Anne, the brown one,
is 25 pounds, and she is sweet and quiet.  They love each other very
much and it’s great fun having them both!  They spend a lot of time
running and playing in the yard, are very smart and loving, healthy
and happy, they love everyone, and I adore them.  Thank you all SO
MUCH for bringing these sweet girls to me and for all your care of
homeless pets!
Thank you and bless you~
Barb

When we first saw Montie I was a little concerned that he might be over shy and wouldn’t fit into our lifestyle. I couldn’t of been more wrong. Montie has been a complete  joy and everyday with him we smile and laugh and love him more and more. He has worked his way into our hearts and I know that he feels the same way to everyone in our family also. He has truly been a blessing to Missy and myself.
He loves his walks, some days up to 6 times a day and we love going along with him.  He has only had one accident and that was more our fault than his. He has fallen in love with Missys slipper and the very first day here took the towels out of the bathroom when Missy was in the shower...lol.  Each day he seems to make us laugh more and more with his mischief and his playful ways.
I hope you enjoy the pictures and we will keep you updated with our new found joy.

Jim
Riley is doing wonderfully!!
Thank you so much for saving him because he is truly a dream dog and we all love him dearly (even our Eskie Bailey loves him - well, except for when Riley jumps on her thinking she's is a puppy instead of nearly 14 years old with arthritis!)    I could go on and on about how wonderful he is...but I'll save it for another time.  (haha)  Will send pictures as soon as I can figure out how to get them off my phone!

"Manny (formerly Dusty) LOVES our new training regimen (based on the
Monk's approach) of two obedience sessions per day lasting 10-15
minutes.  He likes the treats AND the attention and is mastering new
tricks every day.  Sometimes my neighbor brings her two dogs over and
we work with all 3 of them.  They think it's great fun!  Not a day
goes by that I don't thank my lucky stars (and H.O.P.E.) that Manny is
part of my life now.

Roberta and Manny"

Thank you to Hope of NY – and a BIG Thank you to Jody for bringing me Chester – we have renamed him Peanut and you would think he was named Peanut his whole life.  He has adjusted so well to and is just the most adorable and loving dog anyone could ever hope for.  He loves to lay in my arms as if he was a baby and get his belly rubbed.  He has
started to show interest in the toys that I bought him, especially the mini tennis ball.  He just loves to chase that around the house.   He likes sleeping next to me in bed but also sleeps in one of his 3 beds in the house.   Here is a picture of him in one of his new beds.  He
is my 11 pound bundle of joy!!
"I thought you'd like to see how Cody (Moby) is doing.  His is a
wonderful dog and a great addition to our family.  He went with us to cut down our Christmas tree, in the photo.  He loves playing in the snow with the girls, too.  He is a loving, adorable fun little guy and we are so thankful to have him.  Thank you H.O.P.E. for doing such a great thing for dogs!

Shirley, Kirk, Emma and Katie"

Hi Jody here are some pictures of Reba's first winter and some random ones of her hope you enjoy seeing them.  Reba has definitely found her forever home she is such a happy dog we are all so glad to have her :) Jody feel free to share these photos of Reba I thought that I had video taped her but I guess I just didn't have the new camera figured out just right it was quite disappointing to me when I looked for them and they weren't there can't get Reba's first winter videos back either they were so cute to she had her head buried in the snow and making tunnels with head, face and nose it was so funny to watch her do that and play outside in the snow.
Wishing everyone a Happy Easter!
