Flippies Story

Her name is Flippie!

She sat there alone, scared and emaciated in a pound in South Carolina!

She suffers from rickets which is caused by being malnourished. Her legs have bowed and we have no idea how bad it is yet.

HOPE pulled this girl with just days left to live.

It took many hours and many people to set up her transport. Strangers from all of the country offered to pay her transport fee's.

She will be arriving in Rochester on November 21st.

You can follow her story here. I will update it regularly.

Day 1

My foster Alicia and her friend drove to Albany to pick Flippie and Sassy up from the transport that came in from South Carolina.
They arrived here at about 8pm.
She ate her dinner and then went to her special room I made for her in the basement.  She is so afraid of everything and everyone. She has scars all over her body, her legs are deformed and she is a high heartworm positive :(

Dec, 1st

Flippie has developed an Upper Respiratory Infection. Her heartworm treatments will have to wait until she is finished with her antibiotics. She has gained six pounds since she arrived but is still very afraid. We are searching for a foster home that has another dog for her to learn from.

Flippie has been renamed Annie!!  She is doing wonderfully in her new foster home. Alison and her family are fostering Annie and she continues to gain weight and is really starting to come out of her shell. We are still working on getting her heartworm treatments started.

She has come so far in the short time that she has been in NY. She didn't deserve the life she had in South Carolina but she definitely deserves the life, love and care she is receiving now!

Thank you all for your prayers

Update Jan 3rd

Annie is in a new foster home now.
Thank you Rajeena for giving this girl yet another chance. Updates to follow soon!

~update Feb 2010~

Annie is making great strides adjusting to a normal life.  She has come a long way in a month.  She is interacting with dogs and people and shedding her shyness day by day.  She is discovering how much she loves her tummy rubbbed as before she would never put herself in such a vulerable postion.  She really loves her big brother and folllows him everywhere.  She would do great in a home as another dogs buddy and prefers a stable, confindent dog. She also appears to be fine with cats.  She is only 35 pounds and is just a little, fragile angel.  She still needs to work on building her confindence and responds well to cues thats she understands.  She is continuing her heartworm treatment and goes in for her final series on 2/17.  She will be ready to rumble on April Fools Day just as the weather breaks.  In April, she needs to be spayed and then she would be good to go. She is a great prospect to be a Certified Therapy Dog, visiting persons with disabilites.  She can show them that even dogs have disablities and can leave normal, productive and happy lives.  Once Annie is in the clear, she will begin training as a therapy dog and will come with a one year membership to the Greece Dog Park.  Stay tuned for more updates and pics!!!
